Price discusses how Bea, a deaf straight white woman with atypical vision who is an assistance professor, doesn't drive. Bea uses paratransit to navigate her large car-oriented campus. Bea discussed how a paratransit driver started proselytizing and discussing his evangelical Christianity with Bea when she was in a vehicle. It got to the point where Bea felt like her only options were either not talking to the driver or trying to steer the conversation to other things. Bea noted that at one point the driver detained her in the vehicle to show her photos of solar panels, a move that made Bea late to the class she was teaching.

Price notes that often disabled people are asked to rely on access workers, whether it be interpreters, captioners, paratransit drivers, etc. While these individuals are often seen as givens in systems of creating access under an accommodations-based-framework, there can can be problems when these individuals act in ways that create inaccess.

Many Deaf interviewees notes that conferences often don't know how to hire or arrange for interpreters and often leave the onus on Deaf academics to hire interpreters or to explain to conference organizers how to acquire interpreters. Price notes that categorization of disability can be unhelpful because it can reaffirm existing relations of power and oppression, and that we have to be wary of categorization systems that may work to separate disabled people into those deemed worthy or unworthy by neoliberal aims. For instance, disabled folks may use categorization to distance themselves from individuals deemed intellectually disabled because of histories of abled people being infantalizing toward disabled people out of an ableist assumption that all disabled people were intellectually disabled. However, the categorization can aid in the abandonment of intellectually disabled people by others.
