Short Answer

Resource Specialization and Production Trade-offs

A nation's economy produces only two goods: high-tech microchips and organic vegetables. Its resources are highly specialized: some workers are expert engineers best suited for microchip production, while others are skilled farmers ideal for vegetable cultivation. Explain why the opportunity cost of producing one additional microchip (in terms of vegetables given up) increases as the nation shifts more and more of its resources from farming to microchip manufacturing. Relate your explanation to the shape of the nation's feasible production frontier.
