The research study wanted to demonstrate if there was any interaction between the variables of gender and socioeconomic status for study habits. Results indicated:

- there was a correlation for gender and SES: female students had a higher SES on average compared to male students 
- however, there was no demonstrated interaction effect between the two variables

The article mentioned in the previous node "Study habits of secondary school students in relation to their socio-economic status and gender" describes a research study in which 224 secondary school students in India were given surveys to ascertain their study habits and socioeconomic status (SES). The idea was to find out what relationship there was between study habits and gender as well as SES and to see if there was an interaction effect for gender and SES with regards to study habits.

According to the results of the study:

- there is a significant statistical difference in study habit scores from the survey between male and female students, indicating that gender does make a difference for studying

Results of Study for Gender and Study Habits

The results of the study for socioeconomic status among students showed:

- the higher the socioeconomic status, the more effective study strategies the student demonstrated (the results were statistically significant and in a hierarchy, so high SES students did better than middle and low SES students while middle SES students did better than low SES students)
