Results of Sex-Specific Distributions of Variables in the Childhood Motor Function and Adolescent Health Study

  • At age 8, boys were more likely to have compromised motor function (p<0.001p < 0.001).
  • At age 16, girls had higher academic achievement (GPA).
  • Mean metabolic equivalent of task (MET) hours per week were 32.8 for boys (SD = 17.9) and 28.7 for girls (SD = 15.5).
  • Mean peak oxygen consumption was 49.1 among boys (SD = 9.7) and 35.4 among girls (SD = 6.4).
  • Boys were more often overweight or obese compared with girls.
