Rickettsia

Rickettsia is a genus of obligate intracellular Alphaproteobacteria that function as pathogens. These bacteria are metabolically inactive outside of a host cell and cannot synthesize their own adenosine triphosphate (ATP), relying entirely on the host cell's energy resources to complete their life cycle.
