Role of Retraining and Mobility Allowances (Solidarity Wage Policy)

As part of the solidarity wage policy, workers were provided with retraining programs and mobility allowances. The purpose of these support measures was to create a skilled labor pool for the expanding, high-productivity firms. By facilitating access to a well-trained workforce, this policy component helped these successful firms to lower their operational costs and, consequently, their prices.
