Saliva in the Diagnosis of COVID-19: A Review and New Research Directions

This literature review concluded that saliva leads to a reliable detection of SARS-CoV-2, with diagnostic performance comparable to throat and nasopharyngeal swabs. However, more studies need to be performed in order to confirm these diagnostic abilities.
