Scope of Events Eliciting Flashbulb Memories

Flashbulb memories do not require a widely shared, national, or global event. Although major public events frequently elicit these vivid recollections, flashbulb memories can also be formed for private, personal, or local experiences (such as a momentous family or school event). Furthermore, while research often focuses on negative emotional occurrences, highly positive experiences can also generate flashbulb memories.
