Concept

Self-Other Distinction Impairments in Borderline Personality Disorder (BPD)

Self-other distinction impairments refer to difficulties in accurately distinguishing one's own mental states from those of others. In individuals with BPD, a lack of close connection between self-understanding and bodily experience, coupled with the projection of one's own experience onto others, contributes to elusive and unclear self-other boundaries.
