Spaces that Signal Identity Improve Workplace Productivity

- Necessary in order to control for differences in group communication across teams
- Played the iPad game "Spaceteam," where each player has their own control panel to fly a spaceship 
- Players must communicate with one another to successfully fly the spaceship

Baseline Communication Assessment  (Identity Signaling & Workplace Productivity)

- Participants completed a second round of the Spaceship task
- Then, they did a letter-word-sentence task, which has been used in prior productivity research
- Each person received 16 letters and had to create individual words, then team members had to combine their words to create sentences
- Individual productivity: # of words produced by each team member
- Team productivity: total # of words in the group's sentences
- Individual contribution to the team: # of words each participant contributed to the team's sentences
