Selflessness and the Recovery of the Divine Secret in Attar's Mokhtar Nameh (Chapter 8, Poem 21)

In Poem 21 of Chapter 8 of the Mokhtar Nameh, Attar of Nishapur asserts that the ultimate divine secret cannot be comprehended or accessed through ego or selfhood (khudi). Instead, the seeker must attain complete selflessness (bikhudi), which is described as the origin of all existence. Seeking the truth within the confines of selfhood is futile, as self-effacement is the necessary prerequisite to regaining the secret.
