Introverts make up approximately a third to a half of the population. Even though introverts behave differently, many of their behaviors are similar. The following are behaviors done by introverts:

* Reflectiveness. 
* Self-awareness. 
* Dislike group work.
* Require quiet to concentrate. 
* Consider their options carefully before making a decision.
* Take comfort in being alone.
* Favor writing over talking. 
* Feeling exhausted after being in a crowd.
* Find their sanctuary in their own mind. 
* Daydreaming or implementing imagination to solve a problem.
* Not having many friends but being very close to the friends that they have. 

Myers-Briggs Type Indicator (MBTI) or SAPA tests can be used to find out if an individual is an introvert.

Introversion is a personality trait in which introverts tend to concentrate on their internal thoughts, feelings, and ideas rather than what is going on around them. Instead of being surrounded by large crowds or groups of people, they prefer spending time with one or two people. Similar to extraversion, introversion is an extensive personality trait that exists on a spectrum of behaviors and attitudes. In general, introverts are quiet, reserved, inhibited, and thoughtful. They tend to guard positive expressions, embrace skeptical views, and often work alone.

Introversion vs. Shyness Reference

It is common for introverts to show a few extroverted traits along with their introverted ones. Studies have shown that introverts often fall into one of the following four subtypes:

* Introspective introverts. 
* Social introverts. 
* Restrained/inhibited introverts.
* Anxious introverts.

Types of Introverts

Shyness and introversion are different from each other. Shyness is an emotion, while introversion is a personality type. In social situations, particularly around strangers, shy people may feel uncomfortable, nervous, awkward, or have aversive physical reactions such as sweaty palms, elevated heart rate, or a stomachache. These aversive emotions and reactions that they feel when they attend parties or other social activities may push them away from social events. Introverts also tend to avoid social events, but they choose to do so because they feel more comfortable and energized being alone or with a few friends.
