Simplifying Assumption of a Single Plantation Owner

To simplify the Weevokil model, it is assumed that there is a single plantation owner who determines the total banana output (Q). This assumption is justified because the owner is a price-taker selling at the world market price, not a monopolist, so the market outcome remains the same. The primary benefit of this simplification is that it eliminates the need to calculate and aggregate the profit-maximizing outputs of numerous individual plantations.
