Sitting with assistance is a transitional motor development milestone where an infant can sit upright when provided with physical support. This stage typically occurs after the infant has gained head control but before they can sit independently.

The ability for a baby to hold their head up is an early developmental milestone. The average age for achieving this is 6 weeks, and 90% of babies accomplish it between 3 weeks and 4 months of age. A failure to hold the head up by 4 months is considered a developmental delay.
