Neumorphism is a detailed, precise, and delicate design style based on Skeuomorphism, which "refers to the design elements that are created in a realistic style/way to match the real-life objects." Compared to Skeuomorphism, Neumorphism put more focus on fashion and trendy elements. The key features of Neumorphism are the application of highlight, shadows, and glows.

“Neumorphism” is a new slang term in design circles — co-created by Michal Malewicz — which essentially crosses the words “new” and “skeuomorphism”.

Many brands have begun to use geometric shapes within their designs.  This is one simple way to "add order, consistency, and structure" to your designs.

Skeuomorphism

Flat design is a minimalist style of design.  It was created as a response to skeumorphism's realism.  Flat design creates websites that are cleaner and easier to navigate, as well as a more modern look with its grid-based layouts and bold typography, and can also lead to better visitor engagement.  However, one issue with flat design, according to the Nielsen Norman Group, is that the flat design reduced click confidence in users, meaning that the user's understanding of what was clickable and not decreased.

Optical illusions are showing up in more designs in 2021.  For example, this illusion, called Mach bands, is based on the concept that shades of the same color placed adjacent to one another may create a false shadow.

As 3d technology advances and more experimental art styles are growing, seeing 3D elements added to designs is more and more common.  Designers will add 3D elements or effects to 2d spaces for more creative designs.
