An important implication of social distancing measures is an increase in alternative means of social interactions. Social media has been a common form of alternative communication during COVID-19 protocols.

High infection and mortality rates of COVID-19 have led to governments around the world creating social distancing measures. Examples include reducing contact with individuals outside of the household, schools,  universities, and workplaces being closed or offering virtual options, many social gatherings including restaurants, theaters, sports games, etc. being closed, and traveling restrictions.
