Persistent depressive disorder can lead to somatoform disorders. This is because persistent depressive disorder causes the occurrence of physical symptoms that cannot be explained by a medical illness such as pain, fatigue, and muscle stiffness. Thus, causing the cooccurrence of somatoform disorders and persistent depressive disorder. 

Somatoform Disorders and Persistent Depressive Disorder Comorbidity

Somatoform disorders are defined as psychiatric disorders that cause the patient to have unexplained physical symptoms.  Somatoform disorders include somatization disorder, undifferentiated somatoform disorder, conversion disorder, hypochondriasis, pain disorder, body dysmorphic disorder, and somatoform disorder not otherwise specified.

Body Dysmorphic Disorder (BDD) is most similar to obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD) but is not considered to be an obsessive-compulsive disorder. The two are closely linked because people with BDD often perform in obsessive behaviors (hyper-fixation on a body part) and compulsions (checking the mirror repeatedly).  BDD is actually considered to be a somatoform disorder.
