The structure of the ORF14 protein consists of three regions or domains:
- The non-cytoplasmic domain
- The cytoplasmic domain
- The transmembrane region (helix)

Similar to the ORF 9b protein, the function of the ORF14 accessory protein is not exactly known but it is believed to play a potential role in the interaction between the host cells and the virus. This protein has been seen in SARS-CoV2, SARS-CoV, and SARS-like coronavirus Rp3 (a bat coronavirus).
