This study revealed that 50% of students reported that online course platform set up is a significant barrier to their education. This was due to the software itself and how inconsistant the LMS is with acceessibility and accomidations.

Many students feel it is important to express autonomy in the classroom. This involves having the right to approach a faculty member or not with their accomidtions for a class after recieving all of the information to make an informed decision. This requires the institutions to make it a priority to educate students on the options available for them regarding their classroom accomidations.

Higher education instutions have an obligation to provide accomidations upon the request and proof of a disability to students. Legislation in British Columbia requires that accomidations allow for students to have access to higher educational spaces. However, the discourse related to this legislation is that while they have this access, they do not often feel welcome in said space due to stigmas and other barriers.

Most universities use an LMS online source for students to manage and submit coursework. One of the most common accomidations is extended due dates, however most LMS sites do not allow for these changes to be shown on the students end. This leads to increased anxiety because students are seeing that their assignments are overdue despite recieving their accomidations.
