This study was a single-center study in the Tongji Hospital in Wuhan, China. 335 healthcare workers were randomly sampled from the total 9684 healthcare workers in the Tongji Hospital. Surface samples were also collected from the Tongji Hospital.

Chlorine dioxide was used to disinfect the air 4 times daily for 2 hours at a time in wards with COVID-19 patients. Wards with no COVID-19 patients were irradiated with UV light once daily for 1 hour. In public areas of the hospital, chlorine dioxide was sprayed for air disinfection. Surfaces in the hospital were cleaned with chlorine-containing disinfection solution twice daily.

In low-contagion areas, healthcare workers used surgical masks, latex gowns, gloves, and disposable round caps. In high-contagion areas, healthcare workers used N95 masks, long-sleeved gowns, goggles, disposable round caps, latex gloves, and show covers.
