A study by Walker and Crogan (1998) examined the application of the jigsaw classroom technique in Australia. They found that the technique reduced the potential for prejudice as diverse students worked together on projects that required every individual's contribution, or all the "pieces," to succeed.

The jigsaw classroom is a cooperative learning technique where students from diverse racial and ability backgrounds are placed in small groups. Each member is responsible for learning a specific part of a larger topic and then teaching it to their group members, creating interdependence and a shared goal. This method has been shown to be effective in reducing prejudice within desegregated classrooms.
