Factitious disorder has two subtypes, these subtypes are:
* Factitious disorder imposed on self. An individual with this subtype fabricates psychological or physical symptoms about themselves. 
* Factitious disorder imposed on another. A patient with this subtype fabricates physical or psychological symptoms about those they care for.

Factitious disorder is a psychological disorder in which the individual fabricates psychical or mental illness symptoms to obtain attention and care. This is not done for the purpose of acquiring practical benefits but rather for psychological reasons. There is a chance for patients with factitious disorder to harm themselves in the process of fabricating symptoms, leading to receiving needless surgeries and procedures.
