Suicide Prevention for Middle-Aged Adults
Suicide prevention in middle-aged adults are more treatment focused rather than prevention focused. Use of treatment is usually specific to each person. Some current researches are suggesting possibilities of general treatment to middle-aged adults. These includes:
- Increase focus in middle-age depression and midlife crisis in psychological researches/programs
- Need of gender-sensitive supports on important topics like marital issue, job loss, fear of getting old and facing weakening physical ability
- Advance mental health policy to focus on needs of education and vocational opportunities for middle-aged adults
- Financial support and coverage of mental health in insurance
