Suicide Prevention for Middle-Aged Adults

Suicide prevention in middle-aged adults are more treatment focused rather than prevention focused. Use of treatment is usually specific to each person. Some current researches are suggesting possibilities of general treatment to middle-aged adults. These includes:

  1. Increase focus in middle-age depression and midlife crisis in psychological researches/programs
  2. Need of gender-sensitive supports on important topics like marital issue, job loss, fear of getting old and facing weakening physical ability
  3. Advance mental health policy to focus on needs of education and vocational opportunities for middle-aged adults
  4. Financial support and coverage of mental health in insurance
