In 2020, the number of patients admitted to to Veterans Affairs (VA) Hospitals for emergency conditions decreased from 77,624 weeks 5-10 to 45,155 11-16 (by 41.9%). The patients admitted to VA hospitals from weeks 11-16 decreased from weeks 5-10 for stroke by -51.0% (IRR 0.44, 95% CI 0.33-0.59), -40.3% for myocardial infarction (IRR 0.59, 95% CI 0.50-0.69), −48.4% for COPD (IRR 0.51, 95% CI 0.38-0.68), −49.1% for heart failure (IRR 0.53, 95% CI 0.42-0.67), −56.7% for appendicitis (IRR 0.56, 95% CI 0.45-0.70).
