Future studies that investigate narrative corrections as a method to eliminate belief echoes should look into the generalizability of these results. Researchers should study whether multiple emotions affects belief and if narratives can work on different types of misinformation, like statistical or rhetorical misinformation. 

Future directions for studying narrative corrections to misinformation

Narrative corrections can be effective at combatting belief echoes. After misinformation is presented, a narrative correction seems to reduce belief in the misinformation. The presence of emotion within the correction does not seem to significantly alter the effectiveness of the narrative.

When comparing the effect emotional and non emotional narratives on misinformation persistence, the researchers found that any narrative correction lowered endorsement of misinformation by a statistically significant amount. However, when surveyed about their attitudes towards tobacco products post-narrative, those who received an emotional narrative correction viewed them less favorably.
