The affordable care act is otherwise known as ObamaCare added insurance plans for people otherwise uninsured. The ACA also added a federal subsidy to help people pay for their insurance premiums. The ACA also required everybody living in the United States to have some form of health insurance or pay extra on their taxes.

This insurance system is designed for low-income individuals and families to give them access to health care. Although this program is designed for low-income individuals there are other eligibility guidelines. The guidelines used to be a lot more strict before ACA was put into action in 2014.
