The Americans with Disabilties Act (ADA)
The ADA is a piece of comprehensive legislation that was signed in 1990 by president Nixon to protect the disability community from discrimination and oppression. It is known as the equal opportunity law for people with disabilities. The intent of this piece of legislation was to remove all socio-political and economic barriers that disrupted full inclusion of people with disabilities.
