Short Answer

The Common Pasture Problem

Imagine a village where several herders share a common pasture for their livestock. Each herder decides to add more animals to the pasture to increase their personal profit. However, as more animals are added, the pasture becomes overgrazed and its quality declines for everyone. In two to three sentences, explain why this overgrazing is an example of an inefficient outcome caused by an external effect.
