تو از عالم همین لفظی شنیدی 
بیا برگو که از عالم چه دیدی؟
چه دانستی ز صورت یا ز معنی؟ 
چه باشد آخرت، چون است دنیی؟
بگو سیمرغ و کوه قاف چبود؟ 
بهشت و دوزخ و اعراف چبود؟
کدام است آن جهان کان نیست پیدا؟ 
که یک روزش بود یک سال اینجا
همین عالم نبود آخر که دیدی 
نه «ما لا تبصرون» آخر شنیدی
بیا بنما که جابلقا کدام است 
جهان شهر جابلسا کدام است
مشارق با مغارب را بیندیش 
چو این عالم ندارد از یکی بیش
بیان «مثلهن» از ابن عباس 
شنو پس خویشتن را نیک بشناس
تو در خوابی و این دیدن خیال است 
هر آنچه دیده ای از وی مثال است
به صبح حشر چون گردی تو بیدار 
بدانی کاین همه وهم است و پندار
چو برخیزد خیال چشم احول 
زمین و آسمان گردد مبدل
چو خورشید نهان بنمایدت چهر 
نماند نور ناهید و مه و مهر
فتد یک تاب از او بر سنگ خاره 
شود چون پشم رنگین پاره پاره
بکن اکنون که کردن می توانی 
چو نتوانی چه سود آن را که دانی
چه می گویم حدیث عالم دل 
تو را ای سرنشیب پای در گل
جهان آن تو و تو مانده عاجز 
ز تو محروم تر کس دیده هرگز؟
چو محبوسان به یک منزل نشسته 
به دست عجز پای خویش بسته
نشستی چون زنان در کوی ادبار 
نمی داری ز جهل خویشتن عار
دلیران جهان آغشته در خون 
تو سرپوشیده ننهی پای بیرون
چه کردی فهم ازین دین العجایز 
که بر خود جهل می داری تو جایز
زنان چون ناقصات عقل و دینند 
چرا مردان ره ایشان گزینند
اگر مردی برون آی و سفر کن 
هر آنچ آید به پیشت زان گذر کن
میاسا روز و شب اندر مراحل 
مشو موقوف همراه و رواحل
خلیل آسا برو حق را طلب کن 
شبی را روز و روزی را به شب کن
ستاره با مه و خورشید اکبر 
بود حس و خیال و عقل انور
بگردان زین همه ای راهرو روی 
همیشه «لا أحب الآفلين» گوی
و یا چون موسی عمران در این راه 
برو تا بشنوی «إني أنا الله»
تو را تا کوه هستی پیش باقی است 
صدای لفظ «ارنی» «لن ترانی» است
حقیقت کهربا ذات تو کاه است 
اگر کوه تویی نبود چه راه است
تجلی گر رسد بر کوه هستی 
شود چون خاک ره، هستی ز پستی
گدایی گردد از یک جذبه شاهی 
به یک لحظه دهد کوهی به کاهی
برو اندر پی خواجه به اسریٰ 
تماشا کن همه آیات کبریٰ
برون آی از سرای «ام هانی» 
بگو مطلق حدیث «من رآنی»
گذاری کن ز کاف و نون کونین 
نشین بر قاف قرب «قاب قوسین»
دهد حق مر تو را هرچ آن بخواهی 
نمایندت همه «اشیاء کما هی»

You have only heard a word of the world;
Come, tell me, what have you seen of the world?
What have you known of form or of meaning?
What is the Hereafter, and how is this world?
Tell me, what are the Simurgh and Mount Qaf?
What are Heaven, Hell, and A'raf?
Which is that world that is not manifest,
Whose one day is a year here?
This world was not the only one you saw;
Did you not after all hear of "what you do not see"?
Come, show which is Jabalqa,
Which is the world-city of Jabalsa.
Ponder the easts and the wests,
For this world has no more than one.
Hear the explanation of "like unto them" from Ibn Abbas,
Then know yourself well.
You are asleep and this seeing is a dream;
Whatever you have seen is but a likeness of Him.
On the morning of resurrection, when you awaken,
You will know that all this is illusion and fantasy.
When the illusion of the cross-eyed vision is lifted,
Earth and heaven will be transformed.
When the hidden sun shows you its face,
The light of Venus, the moon, and the sun will not remain.
If a single ray from it falls on a solid rock,
It will be torn to pieces like dyed wool.
Act now while you have the power to act;
When you cannot, what profit is there in what you know?
Why do I tell the tale of the world of the heart,
To you, O head-bowed one, with feet stuck in the clay?
The world is yours, yet you remain powerless;
Has anyone ever seen one more deprived than you?
Sitting like prisoners in a single station,
Binding your own feet with the hand of impotence.
You sit like women in the alley of adversity;
You feel no shame for your own ignorance.
The brave ones of the world are steeped in blood;
While you, head covered, do not set foot outside.
What have you understood of this "religion of old women,"
That you permit such ignorance for yourself?
Since women are deficient in intellect and faith,
Why should men choose their path?
If you are a man, come forth and travel;
Pass beyond whatever comes before you.
Do not rest day or night at the waystations;
Do not wait for companions or mounts.
Like Khalil (Abraham), go and seek the Truth;
Make night into day and day into night.
The star, along with the moon and the greater sun,
Are the senses, the imagination, and the luminous intellect.
Turn your face from all these, O traveler;
Always declare, "I love not those that set."
Or like Moses, son of Imran, upon this path,
Go forth until you hear, "Indeed, I am Allah."
As long as the mountain of your existence remains before you,
The answer to the cry "Show me" is "You shall not see Me."
Truth is amber, and your essence is straw;
If you are a mountain, there is no path.
If the Divine epiphany reaches the mountain of existence,
It becomes like the dust of the road, brought low from existence.
Beggary is turned to kingship by a single pull;
In an instant, He gives a mountain to a blade of straw.
Follow in the footsteps of the Master on the Night Journey (Isra);
Behold all the greatest signs.
Come out of the house of "Umm Hani";
Speak absolutely the tradition, "He who has seen me."
Pass beyond the Kaf and Nun of both worlds;
Sit on the Qaf of proximity, at "the distance of two bows."
God will grant you whatever you desire;
They will show you all "things as they are."
