Decriminalizing indoor prostitution decreased gonorrhea incidence by 47% from 2004-2009. In the rest of the U.S., the rate of gonorrhea incidence was 113.4 per 100,000 females from 1999-2003, and then 108.4 from 2004-2009. In Rhode Island, gonorrhea incidence was 81.4 per 100,000 females from 1999-2003 but then fell dramatically to only 43.1 per 100,000 females from 2004-2009.
