Concept
The Equivalence of Justice and Sharia in Jami's Section 12
In Section 12 of the Haft Awrang, Jami explicitly defines justice (عدل) as absolute adherence to Sharia (Islamic law). He asserts that Sharia is the ultimate standard or scale (میزان) of justice, considering it the core foundation (اصل) while all other moral or political frameworks are secondary derivatives (فرع). According to this theological perspective, any action that deviates from the bounds of Sharia is inherently characterized as oppression (ظلم). This establishes a classical view where divine law is the sole arbiter of true justice.
