Medical adherence refer to patients adhering to medical treatment plans in regards to medication.

Race-discordant patient- physician relationships is when the patient and provider do not belong to the same racial background.

This study wanted to investigate whether collaborative communication correlated with higher rates of medical compliance. Researchers also wanted to investigate if race of both doctor and patient correlated with either worse or better medical compliance.
