If people begin to read into false media claims regarding risks of the COVID-19 vaccine, psychologically, a high availability heuristic will be present. A high availability heuristic can cause a severe dip in participants willing to partake in COVID-19 vaccine trials and dramatically slow down the progression of a final vaccine.

The availability heuristic acts as a negative psychological consequence in the progression of the COVID-19 vaccine development as it gives COVID-19 vaccine trail recipients the false overestimation of the low-risks that come with getting the COVID-19 vaccine.
