The relationship between perceptual load and processing capacity

The processing capacity is how much perceptual load someone can take on. Someone can only take in a certain amount of information at a time, the potential amount they can take in is how much processing capacity exists. The perceptual load is in a sense how much capacity is currently being used for a given task.
