The Uncongested Street Light

A new, powerful street light is installed in a town square. Initially, only a few people use the square at night. As the town grows, hundreds of people now walk through the illuminated square each evening. Using a key economic principle, explain why the benefit of illumination received by the first few users is not diminished by the presence of the many new users.
