LLARP operates without directory authorities, and relies on a DHGT built from blockchain staking transactions, allowing service nodes to act as routers. LLARP provides an anonymous network layer by supporting a larger range of internet protocols and minimizing the overhead for storing file descriptors. End users are not allowed to route packets, lessening Lokinet's exposure to attacks.

Tor is a popular mixnet, maintaining high censorship resistance and preserving privacy. However, it is highly centralized with directory authorities, leaving it with failures. Additionally, communication is limited in Tor.

I2P maintains a higher level of trust agility by referring to a distributed hashing table instead of directory authorities to ascertain the network state. However, it has not had a steady developmental process and has problems ranging from lack of support for exit nodes to users becoming routers, increasing bandwidth requirements.
