The Value of a Common Measure

In a small village economy, a baker trades loaves of bread, a carpenter trades wooden chairs, and a weaver trades wool blankets directly with one another. To simplify their exchanges, they decide to price everything in terms of 'clay tokens'. For example, a loaf of bread is priced at 2 tokens, a chair at 20 tokens, and a blanket at 15 tokens. Explain one major problem this new system solves for the villagers.
