TNFα is a pro-inflammatory cytokine that plays a key role in the innate immune system. It can promote the production of other cytokines, prompt adhesion molecules, and stimulate cellular growth. Additionally, it works against tumor cells by lysing them or preventing their growth and division. Outside of the immune response, TNFα has been associated with lipid metabolism, blood coagulation, insulin signaling, and endothelial homeostasis.
