Traditional diagnostic categories absent in behavior therapy
Traditional categorizations of diagnosis were absent in both wings of behavior therapy, as the concept was believed to be lacking in practical purpose, where in contrast, behavior therapists believed strongly in linking diagnosis with the individual application of scientifically well-established basic learning principles, leading to the selection of applied methods that were well- specified and empirically tested.
