Treatment Accountability for Safer Communities (TASC)
The program was formed by the Drug Abuse Office and Treatment Act of 1972, and helps those with substance abuse issues get treatment rather than imprisonment during pre- or post-sentencing. TASC can include referrals to graduate equivalency degree (GED); vocational rehab; and mental and physical health treatment. It is customizable to jurisdictions, and local populations. In the United States there are more than 300 TASC programs.
