Treatment for Epilepsy

Anti-epileptic drugs (AEDs) or anti-seizure medication are the most common forms of treatment for epileptic seizures. Although some AEDs are seen to suppress or improve seizure incidence, the efficacy of medications strongly depend upon the type of seizure. Certain medications can worsen certain types of seizures or increase the frequency. For individuals which find medication unsuccessful, surgery is another option. Surgeries for epilepsy don’t guarantee one to be cured of seizures, but they can help rewire the brain through neuromodulation or other methods.
