Types of Generalized Seizures
- Absence (occur in children, cause staring into space or subtle body movements)
- Tonic (cause stiff muscles and may affect consciousness)
- Atonic (causes loss of muscle control)
- Clonic (cause repeated jerking muscle movements)
- Myoclonic (cause sudden or brief jerks or twitches of muscles)
- Tonic-clonic (causes an abrupt loss of consciousness and body stiffening, twitching, and shaking)
