Twitter can be an effective platform for researchers to share their findings and learn from their colleagues by promoting collaboration and fostering connections between researchers in similar fields. Despite several discovered benefits of using Twitter as a platform for information sharing and academic research, it is concluded that realizing the usefulness of Twitter as a tool takes substantial time and effort. 

Uncovering the scholarly use of Twitter in the academia

- Semi-structured interviews were conducted to inquire about the subjects’ use of Twitter
- Utilized 4 sampling conditions – criterion sampling, snowball sampling, recruitment on Twitter, and recruitment emails
- Selected 28 active Twitter users who used their accounts regularly for professional purposes from a British University as participants (16 males, 12 females; 11 from Social Sciences, Arts, and Humanities, 3 from Science, 2 from Medicine, and 1 from Engineering; 10 between ages of 40-49, 8 between 30-39 years, 7 were 50+, and 3 between 20-29 years)
- Improved the quality and credibility of their research by incorporating many strategies and using a thematic approach to analyze data collected
