Viral DNA Detection via PCR

Using polymerase chain reaction (PCR) as a nucleic acid amplification test (NAAT) allows for the detection of viral DNA in a patient's tissue or body fluid. In this process, short nucleotide sequences known as primers bind to specific target sequences of the viral DNA, enabling the amplification and subsequent identification of the virus.
