Visual Representation of a Balance Sheet

A balance sheet can be visually represented to illustrate the fundamental accounting equation. As shown in Figure 6.2, the total value of assets (represented in blue) is depicted as a single block. This block is shown to be equal in size to the combined value of liabilities (red) and net worth (green), which are stacked together. This visualization reinforces the concept that an entity's assets are balanced by the claims against them, which are divided into liabilities and net worth.
