Symptoms of DKA

Diabetic ketoacidosis, or DKA, is a condition that occurs when blood glucose is high from the absence of insulin. It can result in unconsciousness and death if left untreated.

	In type 1 diabetes, symptoms can be sudden, while type 2 diabetes is gradual or non-symptomatic. 
•	Frequent urination
•	Increased feelings of thirst
•	Increased feelings of hunger
•	Extreme fatigue
•	Blurred vision
•	Slow healing cuts/bruises
•	Type 1- weight loss
•	Type 2- tingling/ numbness/ pain in hands and feet
•	People can reach diabetic ketoacidosis (DKA) before type 1 diagnosis 

Symptoms

Eating disorder-diabetes mellitus type 1 can result in numerous negative health outcomes, including the following:

- Hyperglycemia
- Diabetic ketoacidosis (DKA)
- Premature microvascular issues

Diabetic Ketoacidosis (DKA)

A condition where there is a shortage of insulin in the body. As a result, glucose cannot leave the bloodstream, causing an excess of it in the bloodstream.

Hyperglycemia

Patients with eating disorder-diabetes mellitus type 1 may be more vulnerable to certain vascular problems that are typically associated with untreated diabetes, such as retinopathy and neuropathy. Furthermore, they are more likely to experience such issues prematurely.
