Short Answer

What practical warning does the precision–recall tradeoff provide?

Question: Answer in one to three sentences using the evidence in the lesson.

Sample answer: A learner should expect that improving precision may come at the expense of recall, and vice versa. In many real tasks, both cannot be pushed to their maximum at the same time.

Key points:

  • Precision and recall often move in opposite directions.
  • The tradeoff is common, but it is not guaranteed in every situation.

Rubric: The answer must say that precision and recall often conflict and must not describe that relationship as absolute or universal.
