Job burnout is composed of three distinct dimensions: 
1. **Exhaustion**: The feeling that one's emotional resources have been completely depleted, leaving a sense of being at the end of one's rope psychologically. 
2. **Depersonalization**: An emotional detachment from the recipients of one's services, often leading to cynical, callous, or indifferent attitudes towards them. 
3. **Diminished Personal Accomplishment**: The tendency to negatively evaluate one's own work, resulting in dissatisfaction with job-related achievements and a feeling of ineffectiveness in influencing others' lives.

Which of the Following is a Dimension of Job Burnout?

The case of Tyre, a nursing assistant, illustrates the conditions that lead to job burnout and its subsequent consequences. Tyre worked long hours for minimal pay in a difficult nursing home, subjected to a domineering supervisor, a severe lack of autonomy, and a profound sense of being unappreciated. This combination of high job demands and low control (job strain) precipitated the burnout. Over several years, Tyre began to exhibit classic symptoms, including hating the job (exhaustion), developing a callous and hostile attitude toward residents (depersonalization), and feeling unable to help them (diminished personal accomplishment). These feelings culminated in increased absenteeism and ultimately led to Tyre quitting the job and vowing never to work in nursing again.
