A subliminal message is a message that is presented below the absolute threshold for conscious awareness. While the message is received, the individual is not consciously aware of it.

The common idea that humans have only five senses is oversimplified. Along with vision, hearing or audition, smell or olfaction, taste or gustation, and touch or somatosensation, humans also have sensory systems for balance, body position and movement, pain, and temperature.
