Evaluate the type and scope of the visual media need by clearly defining the image need and exploring a variety of image types and sources.

ACRL Visual Literacy Standard 1

Effectively locate and obtain visual materials by identifying suitable sources and access points, targeted searching, and organizing the collected visual and source data.

ACRL Visual Literacy Standard 2

Evaluate and construe meaning from visual materials by reviewing associated image information; considering, exploring, and explaining the contexts of an image (temporal, geographic, sociocultural); noting the technical and aesthetic elements; and conferring with others to confirm interpretation.

ACRL Visual Literacy Standard 3

Assess visual materials and visual media sources by determining their effectiveness, reliability, aesthetics, technical aspects, reliability, accuracy, and by considering any associated image information.

ACRL Visual Literacy Standard 4

Use visual materials competently and with purpose through successful technology use; consideration of purpose; effective incorporation by experimenting, finding solutions, and being creative; and through successful communication.
